Napapijri

The Napapijri brand was founded in 1987 by Giuliana Rosset, whose family owns Saint-Roch, the oldest distillery in the Aosta Valley region. It subsequently bought Green Sport Monte Bianco S.p.A., a small backpack company, from Turin artisans. The headquarters were moved to Quarto and initially started to produce backpacks and travel bags with about fifteen employees. The Bering Bag, a waxed canvas bag sold to travelers, was the first product to bear the Napapijri name. In 1990, the company expanded into sportswear and introduced its signature Skidoo jacket, a lightweight rain-resistant jacket designed for extreme temperatures. The brand name itself is a variation of the Finnish word "napapiiri", which means the Arctic Circle. The Norwegian flag is used to evoke the country's extreme conditions, dramatic landscape and tradition of famous explorers.
